Employment Partner Jim Lister speaks to NW Business Insider about the CJRS (Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme) aka furlough agreements:
"Employers will be worried their existing agreements do not cover the flexible changes now being introduced. Most agreements promise employees 80 per cent of their normal salary and provide that they will not have to do any work. Those furlough agreements are, for the moment, the terms of the contract relating to pay and hours of work. Employees may feel that they should not be expected to do part-time work unless they will earn above and beyond 80 per cent of their salary to do so. Under the terms of many furlough agreements, employers may not be in a position to insist they do so..."
