BLM extends family law offering with three new appointments
BLM has expanded its family law offering in London with the appointment of Grainne Fahy, who joins the firm from Hanne & Co. The family law group, part of BLM’s Commercial Advisory and Private Wealth team, will also welcome one associate and two solicitors to its Manchester office in the next month.
Grainne is BLM’s lead family law partner in London and the South East. She joins Daniel Jones the lead partner for family law in England & Wales, and Caroline Gillespie, who was appointed BLM’s head of family law in Scotland in November 2018.
A family law solicitor for over 14 years, Grainne has been described by the Legal 500 as a practitioner who “quickly grasps the issues, thoroughly analyses the information and looks for practical and cost-effective solutions for her clients”. She was recently reaccredited by Resolution for complex financial remedies and Children Act matters.
In addition to this senior appointment, BLM is also expanding its family law practice in Manchester and Liverpool with the addition of Kendra McKinney who joins as associate. Kendra currently a director at Brown Turner Ross will help with the team’s expansion plans in the North West.
Siri Siriwardene, head of Commercial Advisory and Private Wealth, celebrated the latest additions to the team: “Our family law practice is thriving. With Grainne’s and Kendra’s appointments, we will be able to develop our existing talent pool to continue to offer our clients best-in-market service and advice. For family law in particular, clients need a trusted and understanding practitioner, which I know Grainne, Kendra and our other new recruits will bring to every case, no matter how complex or sensitive.
“Within the wider Commercial Advisory team, our entrepreneurial approach combined with the substance of an experienced law firm has been fundamental to extending our presence in key markets, both existing and new – enabling our increasingly diversified, agile and client centric approach.”
Matthew Harrington, senior partner at BLM, said: “I am delighted to welcome Grainne and Kendra to BLM. As we focus on prioritising our people, technology and processes, we must ensure we have the right blend of talent and experience in our teams, to help the firm capitalise on opportunities to offer a complete insurance and commercial law offering.
“These are carefully thought out appointments that build upon recent strategic hires including the recent additions to our catastrophic injury team in London and Southampton. Grainne and Kendra, working with our national family law teams, will play key roles in representing and understanding the needs of our clients.”
Grainne and Kendra are the most recent in a series of appointments at BLM which include Deidre Burgess and Bilal Mirza to the catastrophic injury team, Dileep Pisharody to the firm’s professional and financial risks group in London and Gary Thwaites and Gary Wicks to BLM’s professional and financial risks group.
