Employment Law

Employee or employer – we believe that everyone deserves to be treated fairly.

Always professional. Utterly personal.

Relationships. They’re the most important thing in any workplace. Every employee needs to feel that their voice matters, and if you run your own business, those you recruit are trusted with upholding your reputation.

When these relationships break down, you need the support of someone who knows the law, but also knows you.

Our highly experienced employment team can guide you through every corner of this rapidly growing area of law. Equal pay, unfair dismissal, absence management, large scale restructuring – the regulations and responsibilities are expanding all the time. We’ll help you understand all the facts and mitigate the risks.

Of course, we can only guide you on the implications of employment law if we really understand your business. That’s why we get under the skin of your operation and your objectives. Offering the most relevant advice and acting quickly in your interests.

Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme

Business leaders, risk managers and HR professionals will need to ensure there is clarity and provide as much certainty and advice to their employees as possible during what is an extremely unnerving time for them. Communicating effectively is essential and following the government’s advice has to be paramount. But the actions of businesses will differ depending on the type and size of your organisation.

For those businesses wanting to make use of the Government’s introduction of the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme, BLM’s Employment team have created a template “Furlough Agreement” businesses can use.  To find out more about this offer, please click here.

What Government support is available to help you through the Coronavirus outbreak and what else do you need to know? BLM's Commercial Advisory & Private Wealth Practice explains, in a comprehensive insight that is updated daily. To read it, click here.
